The short version
The NotchPixel app makes no network requests. It collects nothing, sends nothing and has no account. Everything it shows is read from Windows on your PC and stays there.
What the app reads on your PC
- Media playback information that apps report to Windows (title, artist, artwork, position), to show now playing.
- Master volume, screen brightness, battery and power state, to show readouts.
- Connected Bluetooth devices and their reported battery level.
- Toast notifications, through the Windows notification listener, only if you allow it in Windows privacy settings and keep the option on in NotchPixel.
- The foreground window, to decide when to shrink or hide the island.
None of this is stored beyond what is on screen, and none of it leaves your computer.
What the app stores
Your preferences, in a small settings file in your Windows profile, and a diagnostic log on your PC that you can delete at any time.
Updates
The Microsoft Store version updates through the Store. The direct-download version can check a release feed for new versions; that request contains no personal data.
